The Nam Kong 2 Hydropower Project in Lamong Village, Phouvong District, Attapeu Province held a fish release ceremony on 12 August 2020 to celebrate the National Day for Wildlife and Aquatic Animal Conservation.

Attending the ceremony were Attapeu’s Vice Governor, District Governor, the Director of Provincial Agriculture, the Forestry department, the Manager of Nam Kong 2 Hydropower, and its Production Control Manager’s Director, as well as other officials from related offices.

The fish included silver barbs, migral carps and others totalling 60,000 fishes.  The releases were made in the grey dam of the Nam Kong 2 Project and were aimed at improving the balance of the biodiversity and also to conserve the aquatic life as required by the Fishery Law of the Lao PDR.
