On December 6, 2022, Mr. Sonxay SIPHANDONE, Deputy Prime Minister, Economic Affairs Supervisor, and his delegation visited and monitored the progress of Nam Phak hydropower project at Huai Banglieng Village, Pakxong District, Champasak Province, with a welcome from Mr. Chanthanome Phommany, Chairman of the Board of Director of Chaleun Sekong Energy Company Limited (CSE), and his delegation.
Mr. Preechar KANTHAMOON, CSE’s Vice President of Project Development and Operations and Maintenance, provided a brief update on the hydropower project, which began building in May 2022 and is expected to be completed in December 2025 (construction period 45 months). The hydropower dam project consists of 9.6 kilometers of tunnels, 22 kilometers of transmission lines, and 115 kilovolts of power. It is linked to the KM 25 village station. It will have an installed capacity of 168 megawatts and will be capable of producing 788 kilowatts of electricity per year once completed. The electricity generated will be sold to the Kingdom of Cambodia (EDC). Nam Phak hydropower dam development project is currently 4.22% complete.

The project was developed by CSE Company, which owns 80% of the shares, 15% by the State Electricity Company of Laos, and 5% by the Kobe Green Power Company. The project relates to the promotion of the domestic energy sector for export and sale abroad, which is responsible for society and the environment and supports the improvement of living conditions in community regions surrounding the project.
